Fuel efficiency ratings are beginning to become available for 2014 truck models, and we are happy to report today that the 2014 RAM 1500 is posting some incredibly impressive results. Largely due to the truck's newly-implemented 8-speed automatic transmission, the truck will feature the most efficient V-8 engines available on the market today!

There are currently two available engine options for the new 1500, with a third, six-cylinder Eco-diesel engine option scheduled to hit the RAM lineup later this year. So while fuel estimates for the diesel model are not yet available, estimates for the other two engine options are right now.

The most efficient choice for the 2014 1500 is the 3.6-liter Pentastar V-6 engine, which is available in the HFE (High Fuel Efficiency) trim. This engine is capable of 305 horsepower and will get 18 miles per gallon city/25 mpg highway. Drivers who select the base model 1500 will only lose a mile per gallon or two in city conditions, and both models offer a solid 1-2 mile per gallon advanatage over the Ford F-150 V-6 model.

The 1500 is able to achieve these industry-best fuel number because of its revolutionary new 8-speed automatic transmission. Always delivering the perfect amount of power to wheels ensures that no fuel gets wasted.
