The consequences of not getting regular oil changes can be severe.

Every newer model car or truck has its own process for resetting the oil light, but the general procedure shown above is the same for most newer cars and trucks.

Of course you do not want to reset the oil light unless you have actually changed the oil. The light is there to tell you when it's time to change the oil. Resetting the light without changing the oil may cause you to miss an oil change, which can damage your engine. The consequences of not getting regular oil changes can damage your vehicle and create costly repairs.

It may seem like such a small thing but getting an oil change can really help your car to be the best that it can be. It can increase the number of years you car will last, increase your gas mileage and save you from having to do expensive repairs on your vehicle.

The reason you want good, clean oil in your car is to keep all of your engine parts lubricated. Old oil, or oil with low viscosity will not allow your engine to run correctly. Friction can cause many different parts of the engine to rub together and wear down. This is not good and can cost you a lot of money to get these parts replaced, or even thousands of dollars to get your whole engine replaced!

Your gas mileage also suffers when you do not get your oil changed regularly. Rather than adding expensive additives to your fuel tank, did you know that just by getting an oil change on a regular basis you can greatly affect the amount of miles you get per gallon of gas.

Newer cars are now being optimized for 6000 miles or 6 months. But the older your car gets, the better care you are going to need to take care of it. If you are unsure when to get your oil changed take a look at your owner's manual or give us a call. One thing always remains the same, do not let your car go longer than it is optimized to do so without getting an oil change.
