Are you a Ram pickup or Dodge SUV owner looking for information about the FCA [FIAT Chrysler Automobiles] buyback program imposed by NHTSA?

Larry H. Miller Dodge Ram Tucson is your trusted resource for all the latest information on the three separate recalls announced in 2013 that apply mostly to Ram trucks and Dodge SUVs made between 2008 and 2012. Rather than spend time searching the internet for the most current information, please feel free to complete the form or call our Dodge Ram Recall Helpline at: 844-800-9022. We're working directly with our manufacturer representatives to keep you up to date and in a safe and reliable vehicle. Please do also stay tuned to this page as we will be updating it regularly as new information develops.

Aug. 21, 2015: Great news! We've determined the qualifications for the incentives presented for open recalls N08, N49 and R16 by FCA on August 21, 2015, in regards to the FCA Recall Buyback Program. If you have not had your recall work completed, FCA has offered the following incentives:

1.     Complete the recall and receive a $100 Visa Prepaid Card.

2.     Receive a repurchase offer at Fair Market Value (less modifications), plus 10%, OR

3.     Trade in to an FCA dealer and receive all current, applicable incentives plus

a.     A bonus $1,000 incentive for the purchase of a 2015 Dodge product, OR

b.     A bonus $2,000 incentive for the purchase of a 2015 RAM product.

Eligible customers (i.e. you) will have their choice of one of the three options. It couldn't get any better than this, right? WRONG!

At Larry H. Miller Dodge Ram Tucson, we'd like to take it a step further.  If you love your vehicle and would prefer to have the recall performed, by all means, schedule an appointment with our service department to have the work done, and we'll walk you through the process of retrieving your $100 VISA prepaid card.  However, if you want out of that vehicle, it is in your best interest to trade in with us, and here's why:

Trade in with us, rather than completing a repurchase directly through FCA, and receive all current, applicable incentives plus a bonus incentive ($1,000 for the purchase of a Dodge, $2,000 for the purchase of a RAM), and an offer at Fair Market Value plus an additional $1,000.  We are literally combining the second and third offers outlined by FCA. This is a far better option for you for two reasons:

1.     You will be working one on one with our friendly sales professionals who will work to make sure you are getting the commitment to service you deserve.

2.     If you repurchase directly through FCA, you can use their buyback monies to purchase another vehicle, but you will miss out on the bonus $1,000/$2,000 trade in incentives, since you no longer have the vehicle to trade.

This is offer is exclusive to Larry H. Miller Dodge Ram Tucson, and is only available until January 4, 2016.

Aug. 12, 2015: We've reviewed many news articles and took the time to read through the Consent Order issued between FCA and the NHTSA since news about the buyback program broke two weeks ago. As you may know, FCA has been given 60 days to deliver specific details regarding which customers will be eligible for buyback; customers who qualify will be notified directly. What you might not be aware of is that FCA is taking extra measures to assure that similar mistakes don't occur in the future. According to the Consent Order, FCA will "develop new written procedure" for determining safety related defects and notifying NHTSA, dealers, and vehicle owners of such (referred to as "Best
Practices"). In addition, FCA will "submit a report detailing [their] training plan" to NHTSA and will, in turn, train the appropriate personnel on the company's Safety Act obligations and, newly established, Best Practices. Training will be provided to FCA at least once each year. Rest assured, FCA will "retain an independent third-party consultant with expertise in corporate process, governance and controls," approved by the NHTSA, for three years. The independent third-party consultant will advise FCA in developing the revised Best Practices and their new Training plan, and NHTSA will have the right to  make any modifications they see fit prior to finalization.

So what does all of this mean to you, our valued customer? This means that we, your trusted Dealer, will be provided with information and resources to provide you with the excellent service you deserve in a timelier manner. We will be more educated and you can feel comfortable placing your trust, and continuing to do business, with us. While we await further information on the specific information regarding buyback qualification, we want to make sure that you know we are at your service. Please feel free to call 844-800-9022 and schedule an appointment for a professional trade appraisal on your vehicle. Love your vehicle and want to hold onto it? Click here to schedule an appointment with our Service Department to have the Recall work performed so that your vehicle is current with safety standards. We look forward to hearing from you soon!

Aug. 3, 2015:
Detroit - Over the weekend, FCA announced a recall of about 322,000 Dodge Charger sedans due to side air-bag deployment when the door is slammed.
2011 to 2014 model years are affected by this recall.

July 30:
Washington - FCA said it was reducing its estimate of the number of vehicles eligible for a buyback by about 10 percent to 175,000.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration [NHTSA] has granted FCA 60 days to decide how customers will be compensated and if their vehicle will be eligible for buyback. If you have already had your vehicle repaired for one of these recalls, no action is required at this time. Customers who have not had their vehicles remedied will have the option of having the recall repair performed or having their vehicle repurchased. This offer will be extended to current owners, regardless of position of ownership (including second owner, third owner, etc.). The offer will not include any allowance for modifications or upgrades made to the vehicle, i.e. tow bed, lift/winch kit,etc.).

Not sure if your vehicle is affected by one of these recalls? Use the MOPAR Owner Connect Recall lookup tool located here. Already know you need recall repairs? Click here to schedule service now.

The FCA buy back program applies to the following vehicles, if they have not yet been repaired:

278,229 vehicles recalled on February 6, 2013 because of a defect that may cause the axle to lock including the:

  • 2009 model year Chrysler Aspen
  • 2009 model year Dodge Durango
  • 2009-2012 model years Dodge Ram 1500
  • 2009-2011 model years Dodge Dakota

36,710 vehicles recalled on November 6, 2013 because of a defect that may cause the driver to lose steering power and crash:

  • 2008-2012 model years Dodge Ram 4500
  • 2008-2012 model years Dodge Ram 5500

265,057 vehicles recalled on November 6, 2013, to repair and replace steering linkages that may cause the driver to lose steering power and crash:

  • 2008 model year Dodge Ram 1500
  • 2008-2012 model years Dodge Ram 2500
  • 2008-2012 model years Dodge Ram 3500

In the consent order, FCA US has agreed to additional remedies for three recall campaigns covering approximately half a million vehicles, primarily 2008 through 2012 chassis cab, 2009 through 2011 light duty and 2008 through 2012 heavy-duty Ram Trucks. In each of those campaigns, FCA US will offer to owners whose vehicles have not yet been remedied, as an alternative remedy, to repurchase those vehicles at a price equal to the original purchase price less a reasonable allowance for depreciation plus ten percent. However, customers responding to the recall may continue to keep their vehicles and have them repaired in accordance with the original recall. As of this date, repairs have been completed on well over 60 percent of the subject vehicles, leaving less than two hundred thousand eligible vehicles. As is expressly provided for under the consent order, FCA intends that any vehicles repurchased will be remedied and resold. Call our Dodge Ram Recall Helpline at: 844-800-9022
